Summer in Norfolk

Oh, I so much enjoy the beach, not only in the summer. But especially then. On our beach, we get quite nice breezes which make my ears fly.

Some people think that looks funny… I don’t mind. I’m not vain. I just know that I’m beautiful, so what.

Sometimes, Alpha Su throws us some bottles to retrieve from the sea. I tend to do her that favour, although I’d rather sniff and bumble around instead of constantly exercising.

My daughter however is much keener to jump in – well she’s 4 years younger than me and does not yet know about ageing gracefully.

Anyway, hope we’ll go today again!

Weybourne walk

It’s been a nice and crispy day, and the whole family went out for a beach walk today. It’s been a while since I last was on the cliffs at Weybourne, so I enjoyed it very much. And for Mali it all was new, ’cause she’s still nearly a pup.

And this was how the beach looked like… (I much prefer the beach at Mundesley, it has lovely sand and is sooo broad!).

No, I definitely don’t like these English “winters”. What about some snow, frost, sun? I wouldn’t even mind pulling a little sledge together with Mali – but frankly, just wading through kneehigh mud on the fields is disgusting! They could at least provide some sort of doggie Wellis…

Alpha Su is in such a foul mood, too –  she needs a bit of a Mediterranean holiday I presume (although it might be horrible down there as well? Caribbean sounds better).

Anyway, last night I browsed through photo memories when Mali was just a wee teenie… look, how sweet she was!

winter in Norfolk

No, I don’t especially like the winter in Norfolk. Because…maybe we have just the odd ONE day with snow and sunshine – which I thouroughly enjoy.

But otherwise, it’s just rain, rain, gray wet foggy days. No, I’d rather go skiing somewhere in Austria! The only place I like round here at this time of year is the beach.

Christmas

We had wonderful pigs’ ears this year, and loads of other stuff from their table. There was a real feast going on, so we sneaked around and kept our mouths wide open…

On Boxing Day, we went to visit our friend Pippa…

Our Chistmas tree was heavily adorned… with real candles and sparkles.

I hope you all had a very happy Christmas!

Food and us

Christmas is well on it’s way, and wonderful smells of baking biscuits fill the house. Being Labs, we’d do anything for food. Yesterday I even tried beetroot – 4 **** – today some pumpkin – 3***. As you see, I am very conscious about the right  intake of vitamins, Omegas… and anything else.  For my digestion, I consume vast amounts of fresh grass. Very healthy!

Last week, my daughter Lily cama to visit us – together with her family. She’s a lovely girl, and I am really proud of her. However Mali, this jealous bitch, only growled at her and chased her around. That’s not the way she was brought up by me! – Anyway, we had some good muddy walks around the Broads and Mundesley beach which knocked us out in the evenings.

I really love a good old-fashioned sand rub for my face, that’s where the secret for my good looks lies (don’t tell Kate Moss – she’ll copy me!).

Now this is a publicity shot for a facial cream by Estee Lauder. Wild and rough, just the way men like it!

Autumn in Norfolk

I quite like this time of the year. They start heating the house a bit more, and my favourite place is definitely in front of the Aga. Ufortunately, there’s only ONE basket but TWO dogs. Well, I don’t mind just leaning at the boiling hot Aga, as long as they don’t start cooking and opening Aga doors, pushing me away, treading on my tail… you know!

See what I mean? – Anyway, I also like being outside, as long as it’s warm and sunny. Having a good old chew, rolling on the grass, digging a few holes… that’s life!

Today we went for a lovely autumn walk in a nature reserve when Mali jumped into the muddy pond. Alpha Su managed to take the following photo – Mali in the water, with diamonds!

walk on the wild side

Today it was boiling hot which for a black lab is hellish. So I escaped during our walk to have a quick dive in the muddy pond. Heaven! Except for afterwards, I was hosepiped (which I HATE), and all the lovely smelly stuff went down the gully. To dry my coat, I had a good roll in the dusty drive. And believe it or not – they hosepiped me again! Then I was pulled on the lawn to dry and roll there. I gave up and did what they wanted…

Mali had a good race through the sugarbeet fields. That’s why she missed the muddy pond. However, she managed to find some exquisit fox poo to perfume her whole body with. Good girl!! Of course, she got the old hosepipe treatment as well. Aren’t we lucky mutts, with such caring humans?
